Dr. Kamini Walia delivered an insightful presentation on the "Overview of ICMR AMR Initiatives" on the 19th of September, 2024. Together with Dr. Lucky Singh from ICMR, she actively engaged with the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) modelling team at NDMC, which is headed by Prof. Saket Choudhary, Assistant Professor, KCDH.
Dr. Kamini Walia is a senior scientist at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, with a PhD from PGIMER and a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. With over 20 years in public health, she has led numerous projects in infectious diseases, reproductive health, and noncommunicable diseases. She has extensive experience in HIV/AIDS, vaccines, and diagnostics, and previously served as Director of Research and Development at PATH. Currently, she leads ICMR's Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Initiative, focusing on surveillance, stewardship, and One Health. She curated India's National Essential Diagnostics List and is a former member of WHO's expert group on Essential Diagnostics. A recipient of multiple awards, including the ICMR Shakuntala Amir Chand Award and NIH Fogarty Fellowship, Dr. Walia has over 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
